The measurement stick no longer becomes the test. Students will not have to wait until they fail an exam before they know that the method they used to study was inappropriate. This alone puts students back in the driver’s seat and in control of their futures. The third reason enhanced metacognition is important to your child’s achievement is because they will develop the capacity to either choose more effective strategies or identify ways to make the strategy they are currently using better should they find themselves in a position where the strategy they are using is ineffective.
