Will my old craftsman remotes work on my new chamberlain garage door opener?
November 16th, 2009 | by admin |THe openers will not program on my new Chamberlain opener. THe batteries have been replaced and I have used the learn button so I am wondering if the remotes are just not compatable.
If the old opener had a gray antenna wire on the motor head & if the new one has a purple wire the answer is no. They are on different frequencies.

Depending on how old they are, they probably won’t work. The new openers use "rolling code" technology that varies the signal slightly each time the remote is used. The operator still recognizes the remote as being one authorized to send a command but the technology is supposed to defeat anyone attempting to copy the signal from your remote and opening the door. The older operators and remotes work on fixed signals that may have been set with dip switches on each device, etc. If the remotes and the old opener are both newer models the problem may be that the two manufacturers are using different frequencies within the same spectrum. I know that Home Depot and Lowe’s sell universal remotes that may be paired with a number of operators, including Chamberlain.
