Killing Floor (Open string style)

Here’s an example of using a ringing open string to bolster your solo acoustic playing. In this video, I’m simply strumming the open A string whenever I get a chance between playing the main riff.

Jimi Hendrix used this style to great effect on this song and with even more complex examples of this technique in songs like ‘Little Wing’ and ‘Castles Made of Sand’.

Be free with the A string and make it part of the rhythm.
